Any team that drops a player after the season that has remaining cap room in the previous season can opt to pay off the contract in full with no penalty on the next season.
Example team drops Joe Smith with a $5 M 2014 & a $3 M 2015 contract. Owner could has $6 M of remaing cap room after 2013 season he may choose to pay off the 50% of th $8 M due and add to 2013 leaving $2 M in cap. Owner MUST be able to cover the ENTIRE obligation to use this option.
