A protected prospect is a player in their 1st 4 years of service following the year that they have achieved 50 innings pitched or 150 AB in the Major Leagues.

A player that has promoted to your team's major league roster that does not reach the minimum requirement of at bats or innings may be returned to the minor league roster provided that there is an open spot.
